Assisted Living

ruth_davidson_thumbA few years after retiring in Michigan, my husband and I moved to South Carolina. We had visited other states in the south seeking more climate friendly areas. South Carolina, with its seasons was perfect.  We built a home in Oconee County offering golf and other amenities.  We lived there several years until we were ready to retire again, this time from the physical demands of property ownership.  Again we found the perfect place for us at Clemson Downs.  The campus is beautiful!  We could continue our lifestyle - with church, friends, doctors and other health care services in the community - as well as on campus.  We lived in a large apartment until my husband's death.  By then I was 90 and had no relatives in the area; although I was in good health, my family and I opted for an apartment, which had become available in Assisted Living.  A whole new life was opened up for me.  My spacious living room, bedroom, kitchenette and bath were lovely, and completely adequate for me.  In addition I no longer had to cook, do my laundry or clean my apartment.  A caring and professional staff are on the floor to manage my medication and be present to respond to a push of a button.  Since I am healthy, I participate in a variety of activities on campus.  I travel on our activity bus to concerts at the two local universities, and go shopping and sight seeing.  Life is Good!
