As the United States and the World get ready for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics, Clemson Downs celebrates our very own Olympian, Mr. Herb Barten! Mr. Barten ran the Men’s 800 Meters in the 1948 Summer Games in London. In his own words, he ran his best time and tied an Olympic record, the only problem was, there were three guys ahead of him. He may not have medaled that day but we are proud of him and he is a gold medal winner to us!!!
